Christmas 2010

This year we traveled to my mom's house for Christmas in Sioux Falls. We had a great time seeing all of our family and eating all kinds of yummy food!! I don't have a picture, but Grace "encountered" Santa for the fourth time this month and like all of the prior times, this was NOT a memory she wants to remember. With tears she lunged for anything but the big guy in the red suit. Maybe next year she will warm up to him. I was so busy at our Christmas with the Wiese's that I didn't get any pictures...thanks to Eric I actually got the camera out for the Miles celebration on Christmas day.

Grandma Mary

This month we lost John's Grandma Mary. We were saddened by the news and felt a deep emptiness where she brought so much joy to many. We traveled to Illinois to celebrate the life she lived and to lay her to rest by her dear husband. Many tears of sadness were shed along with tears of joy in happy memories she left us. It is during our times of sorrow that we lean on those we love and there were certainly many to lean on during our trip. We will miss Grandma Mary so much, but wish her joy and peace in heaven.

Snowmageddon 2010

This past weekend we were snowed in with my mom, sisters and boyfriend at our house. The plan was to celebrate my birthday, but instead we celebrated by hunkering down and staying inside when not shoveling our waist high snow drifts. Here are some fun things we did while stuck at home.

Oh Christmas Tree

Grace loved helping mom and dad put up the Christmas tree this year!

On the Farm

This past weekend we had a great time taking our nephews out to the Wiese farm to experience harvest. Grace and I had a great time riding in the combine with Uncle Rick - thanks Rick and all of the cousins for treating us to this rare event for us "city kids". I hope that we can continue this tradition for years to come.

Did I mention we also went shooting? I hit my second clay pigeon. Look out all!

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

Gracie loves to play along with us to the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and now has started grabbing her nose, her ear, her head, etc. as well as ours!

Funny Girl

We have our own little "funny girl" on our hands.

Yes, she really loves Finnigan's kennel. She brings her toys in there like it's her little house.

......trolley ride and pumpkins

Daddy tired them out....awww.

Bennie Reunion -- Sarah Get's Married

I had a wonderful time this month getting together with my laugh-a-minute Bennie friends at Sarah Devereaux's wedding. I got to drive to Slayton, MN for the wedding where throughout my childhood we would drive through on the way to Grandpa and Grandma's house. Drove my car full of ladies past the Hub Drive-In. We had a wonderful time catching up and remembering our days in Dominica 7!

..............and while I was with the Bennies, John took care of our niece and nephew, Luke and Abby, for the weekend. They all met Britt and Eric for a fun time on the trolley and pumpkin hunting!!
